Donald's Cream Ices is a family run ice cream and frozen food wholesaler based in Gourock, Inverclyde.
It all Started as a small cafe called the Picture House located in Kempock Place now better known as the Gourock Library.
Dominico Amadei (Donald, as he was known by his local customers) along with his wife Genoetta and their son Elio ran the cafe and Cinemas manufacturing Ice Cream that became very popular with locals and customers throughout the west coast of Scotland.
Elio then continued to grow the family business by introducing Mars, Lyons Maid as it was called at the time (now Treats), and the Cadburys brand into the ever-growing list of products. Elio retired and his eldest son Carlo took over the reins and started the third generation in charge of the business.
Today Carlo, together with sons Elio and Carlo, run the business at the present time, with both sons being established sales representatives covering a vast area of the west coast of Scotland. We are proud to be founding members of Ice Cream World and strive to continue with the high standards and quality service that they have brought to the ice cream and frozen food sector. We hope you find this web site helpful as it is another step forward for us at Donald's Cream Ices.
The company has seen a lot of changes over the years. After the war Donald's son Elio took over the business and moved it in a totally different direction by relocating it to Tarbet Street in Gourock where we have been ever since.
Now going in the direction of wholesale, Donald's Cream Ices became the first Wall's (Unilever) Concessioner in the West coast of Scotland, and quickly started to expand the brand of Donald's Cream Ices and subsequently an ever-growing Wall's impulse ice cream range.
